Who We Are
Founded in 1985 by Leroy and Denease Gumbs, Leeward Construction's primary function is to offer construction services to developers both in the private and public sector.
Our management and staff has a wealth of experience in project management and site superivision, along with a number of complementary skillsets. These skills include but not limited to, pre-construction, general construction, management and safety skills among others.
The company has retained a hardworking group of exceptionally skilled workders that are value-driven, in turn helping to build a positive lasting name within the industry that is synonymous with excellence. As such, we aim to deliver the best value for money, irrespective of the project.

Experienced & Qualified Contractor
For over thirty years, Leeward Construction Company has been dedicated exclusively to the building needs of the Construction Industry throughout the Islands of Anguilla and Tortola. Our commitment to the highest standards of quality is unwavering, and our only concern is complete client satisfaction. To this end, Leroy Gumbs has embraced continuous training and education in order to keep skills fresh as well as to keep up with changes within the construction industry.
- Successfully completed the training course, Applications of the Anguilla Building Code and Estimating. This training took place in May 2002. This course was organized by the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications, Utilities and Housing.
- Attended a National Workshop on Computerized Job Estimation Techniques, Conducted by Caribbean Technological Consultancy Services, and Network of the Private Sector Development Division on November 8-11, 2010.
- Successfully completed with distinction the Estimating and Bidding for Contractor's course hosted by the Anguilla Community College from April 26 to May 18, 2016. This course was presented by the ministry of Infrastructure, Communication, Utilities and Housing and graduated with Distinction.
- The company has worked with numerous architects in Anguilla and the Caribbean including Ian Edwards, Nowel Rogers, Crispen Walsh, Jeremy Richards (Anguilla), Ray Woodman (USA), Thor Downing, (Tortola) Kevin Gumbs (Anguilla), Jacques Thenault (USA), Oliver Dain(St. Barths), and Vandine Blackman(Barbados).
- Leeward Construction has also worked with qualified engineers from the Caribbean, and have experience in diverse building projects. This is one of the reasons why we believe we can get the job done.
Leadership Team
Leroy & Denease Gumbs - Co-Founders & Owners
From its inception the leadership team at Leeward Construction has worked well together to deliver on many projects. Leroy manages the bricks and mortar side of the company, as contractor and managing director. Along with his foreman and dedicated team, they deliver on every aspect of development.
Denease runs the day to day operations of the company. Her excellent soft-skills enable her to handle numerous client calls and general enquiries as well as the financials and the multiple business-to-business relations they have fostered over the years. Her aptitude for listening and problem solving is a undeniable and unmatched asset to Leeward Construction.
It therefore goes without saying that the complementary skillsets and teamwork of this duo along with their dedicated, highly skilled staff, makes the dream work.
